Our Values

Our mission statement is predicated upon three pillars that shape the way in which we conduct ourselves and our business: people matter, clients matter, and performance matters. In essence, we build what matters.

People Matter

We recognize that Grunley’s success is tied to a culture of trust and respect.

Clients Matter

Managing our clients’ core needs and concerns is paramount to what we do.

Performance Matters

We pride ourselves in performing with the highest standard of excellence.

Corporate Values

Grunley’s corporate values are based upon principles that guide our firm’s culture, behavior and decisions. These values include our unwavering pledge to jobsite safety, dedication to small business inclusion, awareness in building sustainably, commitment to giving back to our community, and proactive stance on promoting inclusion and diversity.

At the heart of Grunley’s Approach to Safety is our goal to provide a safe workplace for everyone involved to ensure that each  person visiting and working on our project sites goes home in the same physical condition as they arrived to the site. It is our job in managing the project to instill in each participant the core value that safety is not something that is enforced from above, but that is driven by each worker’s concern for the safety of others as well as their own safety.

Small Business Inclusion

Grunley is strongly committed to creating maximum practicable opportunities for small and diverse businesses to perform on all of our contracts. This commitment includes minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, and other small businesses across a plethora of local, state, and federal socioeconomic classifications.

Grunley has been involved with sustainability since the inception of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in 1993, and we are currently ranked #46 in the Engineering News-Record’s list of Top 100 Green Contractors. With 30 years of experience in green building construction, sustainability has become part of our way of doing business. We continually evaluate projects, whether they seek LEED® certification or not, to improve upon initial cost, life-cycle cost, sustainable design, energy consumption, energy savings, resource conservation, stormwater management, environmental site design, renewable energy, environmentally sensitive materials, and site development.

We also make every possible effort to improve energy performance, recycle building materials, and use environmentally friendly materials and locally produced products. Grunley has 41 LEED® accredited professionals on staff at all levels and positions. We have completed 75 LEED® certified projects and have 15 LEED® projects that are still under construction or awaiting certification. Overall, our sustainable projects represent more than 21.1 million square feet of construction with an aggregate construction cost of $5.82 billion.

Social Responsibility

Beyond achieving business success, Grunley takes pride in our commitment to the community. We actively donate to various affinity groups and foster partnerships with locally based initiatives. These efforts allow us to create a positive impact that reaches far beyond the walls of our organization, enriching the lives of those in our community.
