Eisenhower Executive Office Building

Eisenhower Executive Office Building

Modernization

Grunley has performed four separately procured projects within this National Historic Landmark. The 692,000 square foot building contains mission critical facilities, administrative offices and meeting rooms and ceremonial space for the Offices of the President and Vice President. The first project involved life safety upgrades and select restroom renovations. The remaining projects were each of the three phases of the building's modernization. New 21st century building systems, including modern mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, were installed with minimal impact to the occupied Federal office building. Overall, the EEOB modernization restored and/or provided systems infrastructure enhancements to 28 historic rooms. Phase III of the modernization earned LEED NC 2.2 Silver certification. Our subcontractor received a 2012 Craftsmanship Award in the category of "Historic Restoration - Cast Iron Repair and Restoration" from the Washington Building Congress for their work at the EEOB.
