Kennedy (John F.) Center for the Performing Arts
Kennedy (John F.) Center for the Performing Arts
Partial Renovation
The Kennedy Center is comprised of over 1,500,000 SF of space including 55,000 SF of office space, nine theaters, two restaurants, nine special events rooms, five public galleries and exterior performance terraces. Grunley has an ongoing indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to upgrade select mechanical systems. To date, we have performed work in 13 mechanical rooms controlling building support systems that operate at full capacity in excess of 18 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The upgrades require careful planning, coordination, and communication among the engineers, Grunley, and the Kennedy Center staff to ensure that operations remain uninterrupted throughout the project. More than ten years ago, under a separate contract, we replaced the roof and select stone on the plaza.
