Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream

The project involved preconstruction and construction services for the renovation of three historic structures and one office tower along with the new construction of a multi-story connecting atrium in an existing courtyard to create the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, a trophy office building, conference center and museum with cutting edge technology. The two-phase, 238,000 SF project comprises three nationally registered historic buildings and an adjacent office tower. Grunley renovated the tower at 730 15th Street during Phase 1 to serve as the main headquarters for the Milken Foundation and support the museum, banquet hall and conference center that were constructed in the historic 1501, 1503 and 1505 Pennsylvania Avenue buildings. Select areas of the historic buildings’ interiors were retained, salvaged, and restored, and the key facades of all three buildings were preserved. The portions of the buildings that are not considered historic were fully renovated to meet modern standards. The project is seeking LEED™ Silver certification.
