Brault Building at Northern Virginia Community College

Expansion and Renovation

Grunley constructed a new 20,000 SF addition and renovated a portion of the existing Brault Building on the Annandale campus of the Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). The 28,000 SF building now houses administrative office space.

The new addition features an exterior curtainwall. The scope included all new electrical, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems. Within the existing building, the elevator was refurbished with new mechanical equipment, cab interiors, and cab door; all windows were replaced; all new drywall partitions and finishes were installed; the roof was replaced. The pre-existing parking lot was also demolished, expanded, and repaved. Rainwater capture tanks were installed to maintain run-off requirements. The project will seek LEED NC/MR 3.0 Silver certification.
