U.S. Department of Agriculture South Administration Building

Modernization

Grunley has completed three modernization projects within the U.S. Department of Agriculture South Administration Building. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We renovated two wings of office space, each involved approximately 200,000 square feet of building space. This work involved hazardous materials abatement, selective demolition and the reconfiguration of offices to a more open layout. Grunley also installed new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and automatic sprinkler systems, and security and telecommunication infrastructure. Grunley also upgraded the mail center facility and added screening facilities for both the mail center and the main loading dock. All work was performed while the facility remained occupied by 6,000 federal workers. The phase 4A project earned LEED© Commercial Interiors 2.0 Gold certification.
