The Washington Building Congress and Exchange Interviews Grunley Director

The Exchange, a publication of the Building Congress and Exchange, interviewed Director of Preconstruction Services, Mark Laudo, on the changes and trends in office construction.

Mark’s insights into the market comprise much of the article and one of his observations is an increase in “renovation projects for aging Class A office space, especially in the downtown core…owners are realizing they need to reposition their buildings to make them more attractive.” He notes that offices are downsizing the square footage per person in favor of “shared building amenities such as meeting spaces and collaboration spaces…owners seem to be recognizing the return on that investment.” Mark’s explanation includes a reference to Grunley’s renovation of the Sidney Yates Building, which is an example of an open floor plan with both collaborative spaces and private meeting/work rooms. Click here to read the full article.

Mark is a registered architect with 28 years of experience in the construction industry. He has held many positions within construction companies, including architect, construction executive and vice president of operations. As Director of Preconstruction Services at Grunley, Mark manages all CMc, design-build and design-assist projects. He is comfortable working with owners and designers through the “unknowns” inherent at the start of any project. A problem-solver by nature, Mark enjoys bringing together all of his past experiences to help steer a project in the right direction.
